ITEM DESCRIPTION
Featured is a genuine Mexican Fire Opal rough specimen. Mexican opals are unique in the world of the opals. It is in Mexico that the most significant fire opal deposits in the world lie. Rock strata containing opals run through the Mexican highlands, with their many extinct volcanoes. Mexican Opals are formed in white to soft-tone brown “potch” and are known for their beautiful orange crystals. Mexican Fire Opals can also come in many shades of warm colors like, soft-clear, orange, reddish-brown, yellow and red-cherry.
This particular thumbnail specimen displays a clear-slight orange crystal body. It does display a play-of-color, often called “contraluz.” This thumbnail specimen comes with the 1.25″ acrylic box case shown.
Pictured is the actual gemstone being offered.
