The Discovery of Vintage European Cufflinks Depicts Historical Crossroads

vintage cameoTHE WINGED LION has long been the symbol of the city of Venice, Italy. It is said that St. Mark the Evangelist, while traveling through Europe, met an angel of the Lord next to a small lagoon. The angel told him that this location would be his final resting place. Since then, government and citizenry of Venice alike, have used the winged lion (often featured with the Gospel of St. Mark underfoot) as the symbol of their region, proudly displayed at the Piazzetta di San Marco (St Mark’s Square).

Recently discovered were a pair of vintage European cufflinks. Each have a gold finished winged lion surrounded by a sea of glossy blue hand painted enamel atop of fine 800 silver, and framed in custom milgrain work. These vintage cufflinks are of chain link style, and end in traditional tapered tube backs.

vintage cameoGiven their striking blue and gold contrast, the cufflinks would complement even the finest custom tailored white French cuff shirt. The tube backs allow for a smooth insertion into the button hole, and hold the cuff firmly once completely through.

One could never fathom the feeling that came over St. Mark’s witness of the angel, but you’re sure to experience elation owning a piece of jewelry that represents such history. These particular cufflinks, recently acquired by Gold Crown Jewelry, are now SOLD! Thank you..
