ITEM DESCRIPTION
Featured is a natural Herkimer Quartz druzy plate specimen. Herkimer Quartz Diamond druzy plates, are not really diamonds, they are simply small quartz crystals, that when found in nature, actually look like small rough natural diamonds. "Herkimer Diamond" is a generic name for double-terminated quartz crystals, which were first discovered in exposed outcrops of dolostone at Little Falls in Herkimer County, New York and the Mohawk River Valley. The individual (diamond) quartz crystals are found growing from druzy plates found within the gem material layer.

This particular specimen displays a unique full druzy plate surface, with an array of several clustered quartz points, with a few dark black-grey crystals as well as water-clear. It has an unusual deep grey-cognac color, with the typical internal inclusions found in Herkimer Quartz. This specimen came from the Ace of Diamonds mine.

Pictured is the actual gemstone being offered.
