Item Description
Featured are genuine Oregon, Juniper Ridge Opal. They are in their natural form as a gem rough/specimen, and is found in southeastern Oregon. Juniper Ridge, Oregon Opal appears as translucent clear gem. Oregon (fire) Opal is unlike any other opal. While most opals are renowned for the play of color and reflections from within, Oregon Opal is named for its fiery colors, including yellows, oranges, and reds. It may or may not show an opalescent "play of color", but is valued mostly for its intense colors. The Juniper Ridge material can often have a dark/black "dendritic" material that can run throughout the gem.

What makes this gem material rare and so hard to come by, is that the mine is now closed.

These particular small pieces/shards of rough gemstone, and have been enclosed in a glass water-filled vial for display/sample purposes. Each vile measures 1 3/4" x 1/2" inch and contains 5 grams (25 carats) of opal rough. Each has a mix of intense deep orange, yellow, red, brown white color material. Some pieces are still have some of the loose "host rock" attached.
