Featured is a genuine Australian Opal. There are a wide variety of Australian opals, from white based with fire, harlequin patterns, top jelly crystal, to clear. Australian opals are renowned for the play of color and distinct features that make them Australian gems. Additionally, opals can be solid opal (all opal), boulder opal (opal in matrix host rock), doublet (a thin slice of opal with a dark backing), triplet (same as a doublet bet typically with a clear quartz top), or mosaic (opal pieces arranged in a pattern and backed like a doublet or triplet).

This particular gemstone is an opal doublet and has a blue body, with a play of color in the hues of blue, yellow, red, orange, purple and green.
