ITEM DESCRIPTION
Featured is genuine Coal. Coal is a combustible black or brownish-black sedimentary rock. Coal is mostly carbon with variable amounts of other elements, chiefly hydrogen, sulfur, oxygen, and nitrogen. Coal is formed when dead plant matter decays into peat and is converted into coal by the heat and pressure of deep burial over millions of years. Vast deposits of coal originate in former wetlands—called coal forests—that covered much of the Earth's tropical land areas during the late Carboniferous and Permian times. Each gem is different than the next.

Pictured is a sample, taken from the much larger collection of the type of gemstones being offered. The price listed is for (1) randomly selected gemstone. These thumbnail specimens come in the 1.25" acrylic (perky box) case with specimen label as shown.

PLEASE NOTE: These are sold as a novelty for the holidays and are not actually a specimen from the north pole.
