Item Description
Featured is a genuine Ellensburg Blue Agate. The Ellensburg Blue Agate is the third rarest stone in the world. It has a hardness of 7.5 to 8.3 and is considered a precious stone. It's only found in the northwest corner of the Kittitas Valley near Ellensburg, Washington. It was carried to this location and deposited by a glassier making the true deposit a mystery. The striking blue to blue-grey color of the agate has been studied by geologists at Central Washington University. Although more research is needed, the blue color may come from refracted light from tiny particles in the stone, similar to why the sky itself is blue. This particular gemstones has a very translucent body with natural blue/grey color, and that distinctive internal geological structure.

Pictured is the actual gemstone being offered.
