IT WAS ONLY a couple of years ago that we re-branded our company and launched our new website. Oh, how time flies. Our goal was simple: provide a great product to our current and future customers, via a user friendly venue at a fair price. We wanted our new site designed around the promotion of our customers’ works and designs, while featuring new products that they might consider using in their next jewelry project.
Much to our astonishment, through a number of small focus groups, we discovered that while our customers appreciated the opportunity to showcase their creations, what they really wanted to know more about was what goes on behind the scenes at GOLDCROWNJEWELRY.COM. I guess it’s a “faux pa” to not want promote oneself in business, but, I think it’s even more of a “faux pa” not to listen to your customers.
Call it an “Indiana Jonesish moment,” but many of our long time followers, simply wanted to experience the same thrill as we did, each time we cracked open that new shipment of estate jewelry or parcels of rare gemstones…preferably as it happens. The anticipation of what is actually in the box can be exhilarating. “What could it be? What is that? How can I get some of those…,” were all questions we would get when we posted a box opening on Facebook. In fact, Facebook statistics showed that those were our most popular and most viewed posts!
This brings us back to this blog. When we launched our newly designed website, it came with this fantastic blog module. I’ll be the first to admit, I am more of a do-er than a blogger. The blog module basically became more the location for the announcement of our Facebook “Guess the Weight’ winners, than anything else. But, we have heard our customers loud and clear, and you want more. More insight in what goes on behind the scenes at GOLDCROWNJEWELRY.COM and more in depth access to our newest discoveries and incoming mystery Fed Ex boxes. So, going forward, our goal is to “blog” at least once, maybe twice a month, about our discoveries, hopefully as they happen.
We’ve always been focused on providing what our customers want to see. So, that’s our goal. Where we go with with this blog, I’m not sure. Perhaps it will drive itself? Maybe no one will read it. We’ll leave that up to you. We would appreciate any feedback, ideas or thoughts you’d like to share about this new idea. I guess we would need a name for it as well…any thought?
(oh, and yes, those are some of my actual tools and blue mat that every piece of jewelry and gemstone must come across before they get final approval to sell. It has seen many miles.)
